Renewable energy solutions enable you to generate your own clean energy from renewable sources, for example the Sun. In London and the South East of England in the summer we have solar radiation levels equal to 60% of those experienced at the Equator. Solar thermal and solar photovoltaic systems are practical solutions for London households and businesses.

Solar Thermal
Solar hot water systems have proved the most popular renewable technology for households in London. If you are fortunate enough to have an area of un-shaded roof facing between South East and South West (or a flat roof) the system will typically provide 50-70% of your hot water requirements while greatly reducing gas consumption and your carbon footprint. It makes both financial and environmental sense.
Typically £3,000-6,000+VAT* before grants.

Solar Photovoltaic
Solar photovoltaic cells convert energy from sunlight into electricity and is suitable for those with larger South facing roofs and budgets. The electricity produced can be used (reducing your need to buy from the grid) and surpluses exported to the grid. From April 2010 you will also benefit from feed-in-tariffs.
Typically £10,000-£12,000+VAT* before grants.

*VAT on renewable energy and energy efficiency measures is in many cases charged at only 5%
