The Carbon Trust provides interest free unsecured loans for energy efficiency equipment (for example voltage optimisation). Any firm that does not fall under the carbon reduction commitment scheme (i.e. firms with annual electricity consumption less than £500,000) is eligible.

Loans can be between £3,000 and £400,000 and the length of the loan is designed to match the payback period of the proposed carbon saving technology (upto 4 years) so that the savings cover the repayments. This means that the loan effectively pays for itself, and after that the business continues to benefit from the energy savings.
